Overview
Analytical Evaluations
Automatika’s engineering staff is well versed in many of the analytical methods and tools utilized for electro-mechanical and software systems required in the earlier stages of product development. Our engineering process uses FEA, FMEA and other analytical methods as needed during all of our internal and external prototype and product development efforts. We also work closely with other specialty engineering firms and consultants for more specialized analytical needs in the areas of materials, fluids, etc.
Robotic Systems Design
Our engineering and production staff has dozens of years experience in developing robotic systems for both underwater and ground-based systems. Due to the variety of programs at Automatika over the last 15+years, we can take your problem or opportunity and provide you up-front concept-designs, engineering concepts and completely detailed production designs as required. All our designs are internally reviewed and presented to the client in their entirety and at all levels, prior to proceeding into prototyping or production.
Product Design
We have developed prototype systems through actual production. We use design-for-manufacturing techniques throughout the design process, allowing us to develop a targeted design that takes into account the downstream production requirements relating to cost, performance, part-sourcing, assembly, QA/QC, repair and maintenance. We currently have multiple systems in production and new products are being brought through the cycle for timed release.
Systems Integration
We understand that robotic systems development requires skill in system integration. Experience is the key differentiator to consider when evaluating systems integration capabilities. Our multi-disciplinary teams combine mechanical, electrical and software engineers, each with decades of cumulative experience.
Embedded Systems Design and Development
Most of Automatika’s products and prototypes require the application of embedded systems design. The close coupling between software, electronics and mechanics requires a skill level that our highly experienced engineering staff brings to bear on its product development and prototype development efforts. Engineering at this level is a systems integration effort where all disciplines work together to allow for the development of small and highly embedded processors, low- and high-level software, to allow the entire mechanical and integrated system to function as required.
Prototype Development
Our staff are experts. We take an opportunity or problem, whether from an external client or internally identified opportunity, and develop varied conceptual design solutions, which are evaluated to yield a viable design-concept. The integrated development effort results in a prototype that is evaluated in the field under realistic conditions to certify operation under realistic conditions. Some of our prototypes are then acquired or licensed by the client for their own internal or commercial purposes, while others are developed by Automatika into product for commercial sale.
Start-up and Sustained Production
ATK has a start-up production capacity to allow our prototype development team to complete the cycle to prototype. We are set up for low-volume (< 100/mth) robot system production. We employ a complete and separate production team, including material planners, engineers, assemblers and QA/QC personnel dedicated solely to production. Interactions between the development and production teams allows for continued product improvement for our customers.
Larger production volumes are achieved through our association with our parent, Foster-Miller, Inc. Foster-Miller also offers full life cycle maintenance and repair capabilities for all Automatika’s robots.
